Have you been infected with the winter blues? The weather seems to shape up, you roll down the windows and then you’re breathing frozen air again. Most people leave the blankets in the morning, rush to the heated car, to the warm workplace and back to the blankets only to start it all over again the next day. Less than 10 minutes seems to have been spent outside.

I have a confession to make. I hate the cold. I hate shivering and would love to curl up in bed with some hot chocolate and a good book. Last Saturday I broke out the hammock I just got for Christmas. I planned on facetiming some friends and talking about writing while swinging in the sunny weather. After 30 minutes, I packed it up and crept back into the warmth of the house.

There are two ways you could face this.

  1. You could wait it out and hope for warm days ahead. They will come, but you will have wasted months.
  2. You could face it head on and force paralyzed limbs on winter walks. You might end up with a few frozen appendages. I have to admit, I don’t know which is preferable.

I have heard many times that there is no cold weather; only weather you didn’t dress properly for. I tend to agree, but a mental block stops me.

What do you suggest? How do you overcome winter blues or bitter cold?
