Chipotle is a haven for vegans thanks to its many vegan options and simple food. Whenever Chipotle is an option to eat at, I vote for it because I know I can get something filling and delicious without tons of menu-editing.

However, when I first became vegan, I had no idea what to do when it came to eating out. I hated (and still do) the pressure of people standing behind me in line as I try to finagle a way to make my food fit my lifestyle. So I didn’t.

When I first started dating my husband, he hated that I was vegan. He respected my desire for compassion and health, but he hated that he couldn’t take me out to a nice restaurant.

I get the frustration. Google was my best friend when it comes to researching menus and ingredients, but I wanted somewhere that I could see every option to me for the restaurants I went to without having to pour over all the nutritional information restaurants give. This new series will be for that cause. Let me know in the comments below which other restaurants you want to know vegan options for.

Vegan menu items

Luckily for vegans, Chipotle has TONS of options. Mexican food, in general, is mostly based off beans and rice. This is the place to go if you need something quick and more filling than a side salad at McDonald’s.

  • Soft-flour tortilla
  • Crispy corn tortilla
  • Cilantro-lime brown rice
  • Cilantro-limo white rice
  • Black beans
  • Pinto beans
  • Fajita veggies
  • Sofritas
  • Romaine lettuce
  • Guacamole
  • Chips
  • Fresh tomato salsa
  • Roasted chili-corn salsa
  • Tomatillo-green chili salsa
  • Tomatillo-red chili salsa

Vegan meals

Meals are easy to make at Chipotle. Simply pick your style (burrito, hard taco, etc.), choose sofritas if you want your meal more filling, choose your rice and beans, and top with other ingredients. Here are some examples of meals you can have.

Burrito: fill with sofritas brown rice, black beans, roasted chili-corn salsa, and romaine

Soft taco:  fill with white rice, pinto beans, guacamole, and romaine

Hard taco: fill with sofritas, brown rice, pinto beans, fajita veggies, guacamole, and green chili salsa

Salad: fill with sofritas, white rice, black beans, roasted chili-corn salsa, red chili salsa. With this meal, note that the vinaigrette is not vegan. Use a salsa instead or just plain.

Bowl: fill with brown rice, pinto beans, fajita veggies, and
fresh tomato salsa. Add a side of chips and salsa.

My favorite meal

I personally get the exact same meal every time I eat at Chipotle. The sofritas bowl is so delicious and filling. Also, I am still growing in my love of tofu, but the sofritas are amazing. Here’s what I get.

Sofritas bowl with white rice, pinto beans, guacamole, fresh tomato salsa, roasted chili-corn salsa, and lettuce.

That’s it. Usually, I have to save half of it for another meal. If you want some variety, get chips and salsa on the side.
