I don’t even know what happened with April. It was there one minute and gone the next. That’s what you get when everyone’s stuck in quarantine.

This month, I added in a little something extra to help deal with staying at home all day. I’ll start with going over the collections for this month and go over the monthly spread after that. I’ll explain why I changed a few things around.

Let’s go!

April Review

I’m pretty bad at reviewing further back than last week (mostly because I have a horrible memory), but I added these reviews in to remind myself of the progress I’m making. It’s easy to feel like you’re going in circles until you look back to where you came from.

The questions are:

  1. What significant things happened this month?
  2. How did the month go with goals?
  3. Rate this month (1-10).
  4. What changes will I make next month?
  5. What is my main focus next month?

May Overview

I found some excellent tutorials on how to draw flowers by Shayda Campbell on YouTube. I’m not the kind to make super cute spreads (effectiveness over cuteness, right?), but I was so proud of myself for a few simple doodles that elevate the spreads.

I may find myself add a picture or memory in this area too if I want to remember it.

Set a Goal for the Month

I’ve had this spread for the past six months or so, and I’ve found it helpful. It helps me focus on one big goal for the month instead of getting overwhelmed with the many I want to accomplish.

It’s pretty simple to understand. In one box, I brainstorm goal ideas and choose one. In another box, I make a plan to accomplish the goal. Next, I act. In this third box, I write how things are working and changes I need to make as I go. The final box is for reflecting on the goal.

Writing Tracker

Camp Nanowrimo is over, but I have discovered I love tracking my writing. Right now, I’ll be tracking my daily count, however, I might go back to tracking the total word count of my novel next month. That’s really just because I really like to see the line slowly rise. It shows me where I’ve been, not just how productive I’ve been that day.

Monthly Spread

I kept things pretty consistent with last month. However, as I started this page, I accidentally added six columns instead of five. Without whiteout on hand, I did the next best thing: I used it. I added in a quarantine bucket list with fun things to do while I’m at home. Now, I’m kind of glad I made the mistake because I wouldn’t have thought of it otherwise.

If you can’t read my handwriting, the list is:

  • Complete a puzzle
  • Compose a song
  • Learn 25 words in Japanese
  • Meditate daily for a week
  • Find a new hobby
  • Write physical letters
  • Practice calligraphy
  • Make bread

What happened to the habit tracker?

While I am still tracking my writing habit in a collection at the beginning of the month, I’ve changed how I track habits. I find that each month, I’ll get a few weeks in, but when I forget to track my habits for a few days, I give up on the tracker altogether.

To hopefully prevent me from giving up halfway through the month, I’ll be tracking each week. Tracking that way will give me a chance to start fresh each week.

How similar does your planner look to mine? Do you like the changes I’ve made? Let me know in the comments below!
